Thank you for coming. I’m really pleased to be able to share ideas and experiences with all of you in this very pleasant context. [PAUSE] As instruction librarians we are constantly looking for ways to “keep it fresh” for ourselves, to look for ways to add value, to partner with teaching faculty, to collaborate with them, and, most importantly, to find ways to engage students and enhance their learning. In this regard I recently got lucky—attending a conference last Fall organized by the Connecticut Consortium to Enhance Learning and Teaching (CCELT)—where I got a wealth of new ideas. The highlight of the conference for me was a workshop on Cooperative Learning. I would like to share with you my experience trying something new… this is the story of how I incorporated active and cooperative learning techniques into a workshop on information literacy for pre-service teachers.
