Truman State University is a public liberal arts and sciences university in Missouri and a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. About 5,700 students attend Truman, pursuing degrees in 43 undergraduate and 9 Graduate programs. It is located in Kirksville in northeastern Missouri and named after President Harry Truman, the only President born in the state. Until 1996, the school was known as Northeast Missouri State University when the name was changed to better reflect their statewide mission.
