The Australian Defence Force Academy

The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) is a tri-service military Academy that provides military and tertiary academic education for junior officers of the Australian Defence Force in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), Australian Regular Army (ARA) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). ADFA also provides post-graduate study for civilians, more senior ADF personnel and public servants. It is associated with the University of New South Wales, which is the awarding body for ADFA qualifications.

Diodes with RL loads. Freewheeling

Diodes with RL loads. Freewheeling

Assume ideal diode (zero reverse rocvery time, zero voltage drop) An antiparallel diode known as the freewheeling diode must be connected across the load to provide a path for the inductive current to flow.

Fundamentals of Electric Drives: DC Drives Power sources are variable DC voltage sources: 3phase or 1phase controlled rectifier (converter) or DC-DC converter. This allows torque and speed control within an broad range, by varying terminal/armature voltage Varying field current/voltage Reversing direction of armature or field voltage or current. Separately excited DC drive Shunt DC drive
