Die regional verankerte Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW mit nationaler und internationaler Ausrichtung hat sich als eine der führenden und innovationsstärksten Fachhochschulen der Schweiz etabliert. An ihrer Spitze stehen Dr. h.c. Peter Schmid als Präsident des Fachhochschulrates und Prof. Dr. Richard Bührer als Direktionspräsident.
The FHNW was formed from the merger in 2006 of three Universities of Applied Sciences (Aargau, Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land, and Solothurn), the School of Education of Solothurn and the School of Education and Social Sciences of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land and the Academy of Music Basel.
