Elizabethtown College is a small comprehensive college located in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania in Lancaster County. The school was founded in 1899 by members of the Church of the Brethren. It is commonly referred to as "E-town."

Method
Participants
Twenty-four undergraduates with normal hearing were paid for their participation. There were twelve controls and twelve students with ADD/ADHD. ADD/ADHD students provided documentation from a medical or mental health professional. Participants were selected if they reported not taking ADD/ADHD medication for at least six months prior to testing.
Materials
We used the auditory neglect test (Coleman & Williams 2006) which includes several subtests: acuity screening, pure tone neglect test, single word neglect test, environmental sounds test, displaced spondaic words test, single numbers test and the displaced numbers test. Altogether there were 105 trials. The auditory neglect test measures whether mistakes were made with information presented through one ear more so than the other.
Procedure
The test was played through headphones and the experimenter recorded the participants’ oral responses.
