Die Universität Konstanz ist mit unter 10.000 Studenten eine der kleineren deutschen Universitäten. Sie liegt südlich der Insel Mainau am Bodensee und ist 1966 als Reformuniversität „auf der grünen Wiese“ als kompakte Campus-Universität gebaut worden. Konstanz wurde damit die südlichste Universitätsstadt Deutschlands. Die Universität war in der Exzellenzinitiative in allen drei Förderlinien erfolgreich.
The University of Konstanz is a university in the city of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It was founded in 1966, and the main campus on the Gießberg was opened in 1972. Today, Konstanz University is counted among Germany's most prestigious institutions of higher education and enjoys great reputation as a research university. In 2007, Konstanz University joined the national Excellence Initiative competition and suceeded in becoming Germany's smallest and youngest University of Excellence.
