בית הספר הגבוה לטכנולוגיה בירושלים (בראשי תיבות: בג"ט) הוא מכללה אקדמית-תורנית, כשהלימודים בה מתקיימים בנפרד לבנים ובנות. "מכון לב" משלב לימודי טכנולוגיה ויהדות ונחשב לאחד המוסדות היוקרתיים של הציבור הדתי. בג"ט מעניק תואר ראשון במקצועות טכנולוגיים ומקצועות הכלכלה. לבג"ט 4 שלוחות (מכון לב ומכון נוה בשכונת גבעת מרדכי בירושלים - לבנים, מכון טל בשכונת גבעת שאול בירושלים ומכון לוסטיג ברמת גן - לבנות). נכון לשנת 2006 לומדים בבג"ט כאלפיים תלמידים, מתוכם כאלף ומאה במכונים לב ונוה, כחמש מאות וחמישים במכון טל ושלוש מאות במכון לוסטיג. בספטמבר 2006 הוחל ניסיון, מתוך רצון לחסוך בעלויות, לאחד את המכונים לב ונוה.
The Jerusalem College of Technology (JCT) is an Orthodox Jewish college. JCT's main campus ('Lev' and 'Neveh' institutes) are situated in the Givat Mordechai neighbourhood of Jerusalem. Other branches are located in the Givat Shaul neighbourhood of Jerusalem and Ramat Gan. JCT offers bachelor's degrees in several fields of study combined with intensive Jewish studies.

Evaluating Performance

When we say one computer has better performance than another, what do we mean? If you run a program on 2 computers, you'd say the faster one is the one that gets the job finished first. If you were managing a computer center you'd say that the faster computer is the one that gets more jobs done during a day. The first metric is called the response time or execution time, the time between the start and end of a task. The second metric is called the throughput (הספק), the total amount of work done in a given time. For the rest of the lecture we will discuss response time.
