Meet the Author :                             Cynthia Rylant was born in Hopewell, Virginia, on June 6, 1954. She grew up with her mother and grandparents in Beaver, West Virginia. Growing up, she liked comic books, pets, pajama parties, and the Beatles. Now Cynthia Rylant lives in Oregon with her son and two cats. "Playing is the greatest training you can have for being a writer."

Meet the illustrator :                             Mark Teague and his family live in upstate New York. He worked in a bookstore after college. His job was to set up the books for display. The children's books made him remember his childhood. As a boy, he had written his own stories and drawn pictures for them. Working in the bookstore inspired Mark Teague. He soon began his grown-up career as a writer and illustrator of children's books. Today, he illustrates his own and other authors' books.

Genre – Fiction

Look for: Things that a character does or says that are funny. Other funny parts of the story. Story Summary: Poppleton goes shopping for a bed and makes sure that he gets the perfect one. Sometimes characters in fiction are funny.
