Biogas in Denmark
20 centralized plants
60 farm scale plants
The oldest are build in the 80´ties
Biogas in Denmark
Operate under thermophilic (55 ºC) or mesophilic (37 ºC) conditions
70 - 80 % of the biomass is manure and 20 – 30 % is industrial waste
The centralized plants treat about 1,5 million ton biomass per year, in total, and the biggest plants treat about 170.000 m3 per year
The production from 1 m3 manure is about 35 m3 biogas (~ 65 % is methane)
1 Nm3 biogas ~ 1,10 liters of petrol
Biogas constitute less than 5 % of the total energy production in Denmark
